Car Insurance Question.

Hello, I am new to these forums.

I am needing to get car insurance for my (obviously) car.

I would just like to get basic insurance, but want to find the best rates (read: low-cost, or even a recommendation on what is a decent plan and company with a good reputation.

I have a small, two-door car, and I have a good driving record (not constantly wrecking my car or getting tickets).

Any help or links in finding a decent place is appreciated. Thanks for your time.

I've heard Wawanesa is good... but haven't had any experience from them. Just good word of mouth.

I have them and have great rates. I have not had an accident or any tickets and have heard that they won't insure people with poor records. They require everything in writing, so changes and/or quote requests are not instantaneous.

I have Fred Loya Insurance (http://www.fredloya.com/) My payment is 63 a month and I think my initial payment was under 100. I have a small 2 door car and its only liability. Ive only had my license in california for 2 years or so, so considering that its pretty cheap. and I have no accidents or tickets. The only draw back to it, i guess, is the fact that the only way you can pay them is with automatic payments from a bank account.

But they are super friendly whenever I do go into their office and when I call them they help out.

I have Mercury and think they have pretty good rates. Wawaneese (sp?) in based in San Diego (US office) has a listing of the prices so you can chose the amounts of coverage by looking at the price list. At least last time I looked it was done that way. So that would make it easy to make comparisons.

21st.com. I have a 2-door Porsche. It's about 100 bucks a month. Comprehensive coverage. I've been licensed for over 10 years with a less than spot-less driving record.

Just shop around. Get something more than liability. You won't regret it later.

I have Esurance and I'm VERY happy with them. I'm saving nearly $1500 per year from when I had AAA and nearly $500 less than the lowest quotes I could get from Mercury, AIS and Progressive. They're extremely easy to sign up for online, no hassle, and their customer service peeps are top notch.

Have fun when you have a serious claim.

Seeing as how I've been driving for over a decade and have never had to file a claim... and I don't drive more than 100 miles per month, the chances of me having to file a claim are slim. I did a little bit of research before going with them and I've heard more positive than negative, including a friend of mine who had to file a major claim (totalled car) with them and had no problems. But hey, thanks for your sarcasm :)

Just to throw a wrench in the mix, I have a friend who had his car stolen and had Wawanesa and he said it was difficult to get a hold of a claims person to report it and then it took a long time to process it as well.

I used to be with State Farm when I was a teenager and I liked them a whole lot. They gave me a good student discount and a safe driver discount after watching some video.

I have AAA -- I know it's expensive but my husband's family has been with them for years, so when we got married he stayed with them.

Bummer...I just switched to Wawanesa after being with Geico and before that Progressive.

I LOVE the cheap rate...I know pay like $110 instead of $180(!) Geico had me at. I'm saving a grip of money...

Progressive was OK for me when I still had an accident on my record, etc. I LOVED Geico but they RAISED MY RATES and I have a flawless record now, straight A student, etc etc.

I hope they live up to the expectations I have tho should I get caught on the side of the road in the middle of the night or have my car totaled.

I've had Wawanesa for years and have had several claims with them over the years and have almost always gotten excellent service from them (the one time I got slightly less then excellent service was when the person who hit me was also insured by them, I really should have pushed for my own claims person instead of letting my claim be handled by the same person handling her side of the claim).

And the one time I had a car totaled out by them, they were very prompt with someone coming out and looking at my car and then sending me a check.

I use Progressive mainly because they are available all the freakin' time, cheaper (for me personally) than AAA and most others and they let me make monthly payments instead of big bulk payments. I drive a big SUV and I carry full coverage as well as roadside assistance and rental car coverage (upgraded) and it's only $100 a month.

if you have a relative in the military, try and get USAA!
it's the cheapest insurance in the US for the BEST coverage.
i get free windshields all the time (when they get cracked).
